About this Course

In June 2011, seven SNC students and two faculty members will travel with the Truckee, CA-based Bodhi Tree Foundation to deliver pre/postnatal vitamins and medical supplies to the women of Humla, the most remote region of Nepal, deep in the western Himalayas. This trip will be the center of two courses each student will complete; the students will gain traditional academic and real-world knowledge of Service Learning as well as Nepali art and culture. In addition to our service, we will visit many significant cultural and religious monuments for both Buddhists and Hindus. Join us as we prepare for this adventure of a lifetime.

Trekking at W&lmart

I admit it, I went to the giant Megalomart to see what they had on offer, and price shop against the more targeted selections of the outdoor stores. I found some great stuff, ladies:
Probiotics are a powerful defense against...

a Poncho covers not just you, but your pack.

This one was too flimsy.

Totally decent poles for $13, not $99.

Cheaper dry bags (makes an AWESOME inflatable pillow).

A headlamp that takes AAs is very practical.

Highly reccomended if you have tempermental ankles.

Worth it's weight in gold, for a buck.

No waste, biodegradable.

I cannot recommend these highly enough.
At least two rolls: covers bandaids, provides support...
