About this Course

In June 2011, seven SNC students and two faculty members will travel with the Truckee, CA-based Bodhi Tree Foundation to deliver pre/postnatal vitamins and medical supplies to the women of Humla, the most remote region of Nepal, deep in the western Himalayas. This trip will be the center of two courses each student will complete; the students will gain traditional academic and real-world knowledge of Service Learning as well as Nepali art and culture. In addition to our service, we will visit many significant cultural and religious monuments for both Buddhists and Hindus. Join us as we prepare for this adventure of a lifetime.

Training Schedule

Keep the rrrr in grrrl! Right now, everyone should be keeping exercise as a routine part of their life - at least three times per week! The hardest part of staying active is actually getting out the door, so no matter what you're doing, just get out there!

We'll be focusing on two types of work-outs: cardio & strengthening. You should be doing both types each week. Examples of cardio: classic or skate skiing, backcountry hiking/skiing, running, biking, group sports (volleyball, basketball, etc.) Examples of strengthening: yoga, resort skiing/snowboarding, pilates, properly sitting on a yoga ball at work, lifting weights.

We are working on scheduling Group Yoga practice here on campus, Cardio Training at the Rec Center, and group hikes on the weekends. If you haven't ever been to the Incline Village Rec Center, go over there with your Student ID to pick up your pass. It is Free!

Free classes at the Rec Center, check out the schedule here.
